Australia Establishes a Fresh Record as Healy Confronts Her Ultimate Challenge.

It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was out her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back plans to retire, this tournament is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
